Any two philosophers can tell each other all they know in two hours.

I, unfortunately, am not a philosopher -- be warned.

Welcome!

Welcome to my virtual workshop! I am a technical writer, illustrator and designer who, for the past several years, has turned to the World Wide Web as my chosen medium of expression. I do this for a living and for fun -- like writing or art, there's an almost infinite number of things you can do with it. This page is where I try out new ideas, play with new techniques, and take all the risks I won't take on the home page of a paying customer.

Use the navigation bar on the left of this page to navigate through the page. There's a lot here -- I have lots of interests. Most sections include a paragraph about the topic, and then a set of links if you want to see more. Links to material I wrote, designed, or maintain are at the top of each list, and are in boldface. They aren't necessarily the best links, but I wanted potential employers and clients to be able to find them. <grin>

I get asked two questions about this web page more often than any others. First, people ask me why this page is mostly in greyscale. That happened because I designed it originally on a laptop with a greyscale screen, and then found I liked the effect and decided to keep it.

Second, people wonder where I got the dancer, and if she's a self-portrait. She isn't. I drew her in fall of 1993 as part of my Christmas card that year, and to test the limits of CorelDRAW and an ordinary mouse. She's my idea of what the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker Suite should look like, and almost never does.

Enjoy your stay. :-)
