It sputters, and catches the flame,
Grows brighter, stronger,
More beautiful.
For a time fleeting as a wisp of smoke,
Flame up, burn bright,
Light the world.
For slowly light will dim, shadows will fall,
Life will flicker, once and again,
And then die out.
